The Story - Sinecera (Sincere)
![Picture](/uploads/3/4/9/6/34969242/published/simple-jar.jpg?1706976662)
The word “sincere” comes from the Latin words sine cera, which means “without wax”.
The story goes that the phrase “without wax” first became widespread during the height of Roman and Greek artistry, when sculptures first became a popular artistic medium. Vendors would hide the cracks in cheap pottery with wax in order to pass the pottery off as being worth more than it actually was. An arguably perfect or quality piece of work was therefore free of imperfections.
Quality products were often stamped with the words sinecera to show it had not been doctored.

The Vision - Go Far Together
![Picture](/uploads/3/4/9/6/34969242/published/img-0499.jpg?1706976668)
‘Go Far Together’ – It comes from a mission trip my wife and I took in 2018 to Kenya. They have a saying, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together’. I adopted that vision into my personal and professional life.
Go Far Together with customers, employees, partners, community, family and God.
Go Far Together with customers, employees, partners, community, family and God.
The Values - REAL
- Reject passivity and paralysis.
- Exceed expectations.
- Accept responsibility and accountability.
- Lead courageously and selflessly.
Simple to state and remember but can be difficult to apply. Must be intentional and relationship focused.

My 2024 Word of the Year… INTENTIONAL
As I reflect on 2024, I can’t help but to be amazed at how such a simple yet powerful process and word it has become for me in 2024.
Every year, since 2020, I have started out the year with the One Word process (https://lnkd.in/ga6wKDbe) and finding or creating a painting that captures the word that I can hang up in my office as an inspirational daily reminder. Here are some of my INTENTIONAL highlights throughout 2024…
🔹 Had my daughter Raelyn paint my WoY for the first time this year… Love it!
🔹 Able to take Q1 off and focus on a much-needed period of restoration and family… Part of my eldercare story!
🔹 Introduced to pickleball and lovingly refer to it as ‘Pickleball March’… Let’s play!
🔹 Launch of Sinecera… Purposeful and intentional on many levels!
🔹 Focus on Sinecera Care and partnership with Jamison… Go Far Together!
🔹 Sinecera Care user needs gathering… Helping seniors stay healthy and independent!
🔹 Senior care networking and relationship building... Planting seeds!
🔹 Early adopter network for validation testing… Literally going door-to-door!
This is the final call for INTENTIONAL early adopters in the local Colorado communities of Frederick, Firestone and Dacono, so if interested, check us out on our website (https://www.sinecera.care/) as we invite seniors, their families, and helping neighbors (including other capable seniors) to join us in the new year.
I’m excited to start the ‘One Word’ process for 2025 in the next few weeks and would encourage anyone interested to come take the journey with me. Let me know!

The results are in - Which image(s) best capture your eldercare story?
It would appear that I am not alone in my experience as over 60% reported the images of frustration and chaos (among other derived nouns, I’m sure) as the two largest takeaways of their eldercare stories. It’s not all bad however as over 26% also reported collaboration and nurturing experiences. The efforts and folks behind these stories are no doubt extraordinary!
Whether you are a neighbor, senior, family, friend, or advocate, we recognize the need for better prevention, communication, relationships, trust, and sincerity.
Go far together with Sinecera Care, your neighbor network for trusted in-home senior care.

A big week? Doing what?
Well, um, actually a pretty nice little week, we're going to go to AgeTech Colorado. Yeah, meet some folks, maybe get some user-centric input, stuff like that. Maybe Boulder Interagency, Parker Senior Fair, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time (we will). One of my favorites 😁

I have found that everyone has an eldercare story (continued)…
The image that best captures my overall experience is the one of the wrench and rusty screws. My dad and wife’s dad were very independent and set in their ways. There was no way either of them would ever show ‘weakness’ by asking for help, until it was too late. Surely there is a better way to observe vulnerabilities, identify preventative measures, and establish trust with as little burden to the senior as possible.
Which image(s) best capture your eldercare story? We would love and appreciate it if you would take a few seconds to select and submit the image(s) that resonate with your story.
If you feel there is value in obtaining this kind of information, please re-post so we can receive as much user-centric input as possible to help shape the Sinecera Care solution.

I have found that everyone has an eldercare story…
My eldercare story stems from my father passing away in 2021 and my wife’s father passing away earlier this year. As an engineer at my core, I’m wired to try to fix and make things better so it was frustrating and sad to see what I perceived as some potentially simple measures that could have been put in place to prevent drastic outcomes. Easier said than done as they were both stubborn as mules but that triggered my quest to talk to folks about their eldercare experiences.
I was amazed to find that everyone I talked to has a very personal eldercare story regardless of age, gender, or race and encountered similar health, finance, family, and independence frustrations. I found that the need for improved eldercare is very real!
What is your story…
At Sinecera Care, we are strong believers in continually gaining user centric insight and gathering validation data to ensure we are addressing the real needs of eldercare and exceeding the expectations of both caregivers and seniors. As such, I am humbly requesting that you take a few minutes out of your day to share your personal eldercare story with us. There is a form on our website though the barcode or even a simple response in the comments below would be greatly appreciated! (https://lnkd.in/geZUcf_u)
Also, if this resonates with you, please repost in your feed so we can get as much user input as possible.

A little about Sinecera Care…
Sinecera Care is in the early stages of developing a SaaS (Software as a Service) solution that establishes, connects and manages a trusted-tribe network for seniors at their home, within the community, providing focused assistance and preventative care.
The 2020 US Census Bureau reports that the population of elderly (age 65+) in the US has reached 55.8 million and is the largest and fastest growing in any decade since 1880 to 1890. It is estimated that 10,000 Americans turn 65 every day. Of those, 90% want to stay at home for as long as possible, 70% will need assistance at some point and 40% need assistance with daily activities. To support the country’s rising eldercare needs, it is estimated that over 1 million new caregiver jobs will be needed by 2031 and is already an enormous burden with existing eldercare organizations.
Our Sinecera Care solution addresses both the caregiver and senior needs by providing an adaptive, intuitive and trusted user experience that connects neighbors to each other for the purpose of keeping seniors in their homes and neighborhoods for as long as possible.

The Story - SineCera
The word “sincere” comes from the Latin words sine cera, which means “without wax”.
The story goes that the phrase “without wax” first became widespread during the height of Roman and Greek artistry, when sculptures first became a popular artistic medium. Vendors would hide the cracks in cheap pottery with wax in order to pass the pottery off as being worth more than it actually was. An arguably perfect or quality piece of work was therefore free of imperfections. Quality and trusted products were often stamped with the words sine cera to show it had not been doctored.

Lead. Follow. Or, Get Out of the Way.
That was the message from Thomas Paine and General George S. Patton I proposed to the Colorado Senate Finance Committee last week where I testified, in-person, opposition to a bill that would increase property taxes for STRs (Short Term Rentals) by an estimated 4x, utterly putting small businesses like SineCera (https://lnkd.in/gtrzuTz5) in jeopardy.
I encouraged the Senate Committee to Incentivize, rather than Disincentivize folks that have the passion, commitment, and courage to take the risk of starting up a business by opening their homes to others. LEAD progress for small businesses by reducing barriers and decreasing their taxes rather than increasing them. Incentivize annual bookings to increase tourism and revenue to communities rather than Disincentivize small businesses to sell. I was not alone in my encouragement for the Committee to FOLLOW the input of over 130 individuals and small businesses voicing opposition to this bill. And if Incentivizing rather than Disincentivizing isn’t possible, at a minimum, just GET OUT OF THE WAY.
Well, I am happy to report that the system worked, and the bill failed to make it out of the Senate Finance Committee – marking it dead for the session. Not only was it an incredible civics lesson for me that lasted well past 10:30pm that evening, but it was a reminder and example of the REAL SineCera values (https://lnkd.in/gerZkYeA) to REJECT Passivity and Paralysis, EXCEED expectations, ACCEPT responsibility and accountability, and LEAD courageously and selflessly.

'PEOPLE don't work with COMPANIES... PEOPLE work with PEOPLE.'
This was the quote I was told by one of my customers years ago. At the time when I told Randy that I was changing jobs from my current CM, he replied that he wanted to keep working with me personally. It felt really good to receive the encouragement and compliment at the time, but little did Randy know, I would use that advice throughout my career.
Now, I have had to hire and fire many people over the years (as well as being hired and fired) and Lord knows I don't always see eye-to-eye with everyone, but I do promise authenticity, passion, honesty and compassion. A mentor and friend of mine, Alan, uses the phrase 'You are only as rich as your relationships'. It seems the older I get, the more I realize that to be true.
Let's chat! Give me 1 HOUR to discuss how I can help with your NEEDS as it may just create a RELATIONSHIP that offers a different PERSPECTIVE to drive SUCCESS.
